w5d1 – semla, the ultimate reward after pressing

went lifting after work. met wife at the gym and we shared barbell/space.

had a good day at work. interesting things in the morning, learning a bit more about patient flow and priority processes in the a&e. lunch with an old friend whom I intend to meet more often, especially given that we work in the same hospital. ”my” consultant really makes an effort and he will help me with some special things tomorrow morning. I thoroughly enjoy this rotation.

today is the swedish fettisdagen where it is compulsory to eat at least one semla or be forever a social outcast. I can heartily recommend all non-swedes to visit your  local bakery and get one semla. please report back when you have done so.

main lift

military press, 5 / 5 / 5. after warmup:

  1. 5x 52.5 kg
  2. 5x 60 kg
  3. 5x 67.5 kg

arm holds up pretty good. still feel a bit weak but that could be for a number of reasons (simply being weak is one that comes to mind).

assistance lifts

a few more military presses:

  1. 5x 52.5 kg
  2. 5x 52.5 kg
  3. 10x 40 kg
  4. 15x 45 kg

paused bench press: 5x 10 reps at 73.5 kg

meadows row: 4x 20 reps per side with a 20 kg plate

lat pulldown, wide grip:

  1. 12x 75 kg
  2. 12x 70 kg
  3. 10x 70 kg
  4. 10x 70 kg
  5. 10x 70 kg

    Semla looks good, but I think the Polish have you beat. There’s a large Polish community here in Southeast Michigan (my wife’s family is Polish), and every fat tuesday is known as Pączki day around here (pronounced Punch-Key, or Poonch-Key). They’re really just awesome jelly doughnuts. I managed to contain myself and only ate one.
