david bowie is dead. listened to his new album all weekend. wife checked if there would be a tour but bowie had explicitly stated that his touring days were over. now, it seems that he made that statement knowing what the future would bring. great artist, great music.
I forgot to bring my 0.5 kg plates today. had to make adjustments. chose to go for the slightly heavier alternative (i.e. 72.5 kg instead of 70 kg when the plan stated 71 kg) for shitz and gigglez.
caught a cold last week and have been recovering from that. figured making an effort would help.
main lift
military press, 3 /3 / 3+. after warmup:
- 3x 57.5 kg
- 3x 62.5 kg
- 4x 72.5 kg (3+)
- 3x 72.5 kg (joker)
- 1x 75 kg (joker)
- 1x 77.5 kg (joker, PR)
so, got four solid reps and I am relatively happy with this. chose to do one joker set for reps and then do a single at 75 kg. felt stronk and did another solid single at 77.5 kg for a new PR.
assistance lifts
bench press: 2x 10 reps at 80 kg (paused) + 3x 10 reps at 80 kg (not paused)
pullups: 3x 10 reps (was a bit tired here)
triceps pushdown: 3x 15 reps
face pulls bands: 3x 15 reps
Nicely done. The benching reps were also quite impressive for such a high percentage of your 1RM.
Weird to hear about David Bowie. I never listened to his albums much, but he’s been a huge presence in music and film for as long as I can remember. A larger-than-life character, instantly recognizable by you, your parents, even your grandparents. It just feels strange to think he’s not around any more.
Ugh I had a cold too. I feel bad blowing my nose at the gym and spreading germs everywhere.
