took the bike to the gym this morning. came back home before 0800. pretty good start of the day. have since spent some time in the sofa reading.
there were more people than usual at the work gym. possibly because of post-summer anxiety. their time would, probably, be better spent avoiding doing lying chest flyes in the cable machine.
legs were stiff today. I did not feel stronk as I loaded the bar. perhaps I’m getting to the point where I will no longer be able to outright smash the program (and its submaximal weights) like I have done previously?
will scout another, cheap, gym closer to home. I’m tired of rushing the lifts during normal work days. also considering joining my wife at her (slightly fancier) gym but go lift in the evenings instead.
main lift
squat, 5 / 5 / 5+. after warmup:
- 5x 107.5 kg
- 5x 123.5 kg
- 8x 140 kg (5+)
still no jokers on 5+ week.
assistance lifts
good mornings
- 10x 72.5 kg (+10x barbell calf raise, 72.5 kg)
- 10x 72.5 kg (+10x barbell calf raise, 72.5 kg)
- 10x 72.5 kg (+10x barbell calf raise, 72.5 kg)
- 10x 72.5 kg (+10x barbell calf raise, 72.5 kg)
- 10x 72.5 kg (+10x barbell calf raise, 72.5 kg)
bands
5x 60
wheel, standing on knees
- 15
- 15
- 15
- 15
- 15
that’s all for today.
Well done. Damn, you North country folks have a short summer! It was 105°F/40.5C° here yesterday.
Bah, there is at least 25 C in the sun right now. A bit less warm in the mornings and evenings, though. I’ve been thinking about moving abroad due to the winter darkness for a few years, but I am obviously still here. On average, how many daylight hours/day do you have?
The shortest day is 10hrs and the longest 14hrs. It is very hot in the summer though.
Ever experienced midnight sun?
No.
Only cable flyes matter.
I did cable flyes a couple days ago.
But both of you are already infinitely stronger than anyone at that gym.
… because we do cable flyes.
Get a power rack and setup a home gym. I haven’t bought a house yet, but I’m starting to look. Location for a power rack is on my mind when I check homes out.
I agree. When the time comes for a house (a couple of years), I have great plans for a power rack.
